![]() The minister of justice, Mr. Doros Theododorou had a meeting with the management of the Cyprus Tourism Organization. There was approved a row of protective measures for the safety of the travelers to Cyprus. Paphos is considered the most vulnerable area, as the numerous thefts happen there. As an anti criminal warfare, in Paphos was increased the number of policemen. During the summer period of time, the policemen will be helped by the alumnus of the Police Academy. In present, the level of the criminality in Paphos is considerable lower. But unfortunately there will not be allocated more funds and the number of the policemen is very low. Nevertheless, the police do the best, but the local population must help in this process as well. The policemen will see after the taxi drivers, who use to increase the taxes. The taxi drivers will be severely controlled to turn on the taximeter. If the taxi drivers will commit such an infraction, he will have to pay CYP 100 as a punishment. The president of CTO agrees that the travelers' safety and security is a major factor which will determine Cyprus as a prosperous, tourist oriented country. |
